The role will be to provide Network administration for the organisation and associate companies, joining the existing Network Administrator and reporting to the Senior Network Manager.
The role will include 1st to 3rd line support, dealing with a wide range of tasks from planning and installing SQL servers, VPNs and dealing with security issues, to installing new PCs, general day to day administration and helpdesk.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Act as a member of the Network Administration team for the organisation, ensure all IT infrastructure is correctly maintained and upgraded in accordance with business need. This will include:
§ Providing network, server, and PC support for the company IT infrastructure & associate companies.
§ Providing network, server, and PC support for Clients, this will involve telephone support, remote administration and site visits.
§ Providing Helpdesk support to company and client users, logging all tickets and dealing with not technical users in a professional manner.
§ Implementation, set up, and maintenance of systems hardware and software.
§ Customer site visits using your own transport to install software when required (for which expenses are paid).
§ Speaking to customers to resolve PC related issues.
§ Supporting the software development team, who develop and maintain the company’s products.
Skills and Experience
Technical Skills
The following technical skills are essential:
§ Good Experience of Helpdesk Support. ITIL qualification is desirable but not essential.
§ Experience of managing office IT systems.
§ Minimum MCSA qualified.
§ Windows 2003 Server experience.
§ Microsoft Windows client operating systems – Windows 2003, XP, Vista, including relevant versions of Office.
§ MS Exchange 2003/Outlook management skills.
§ SQL Server support and maintenance.
§ Practical experience of most of the following: routers, office cabling, firewalls, TCP/IP, Active Directory, VPN, security devices and software.
In addition, most of the following skills and/or experience are expected:
§ Support of standard office peripherals (printers, etc).
§ Experience of administering security certificates.
§ Experience of business continuity/disaster recovery.
§ Experience of maintaining IP telephony system.
Non-Technical Skills
§ A confident and friendly telephone manner is essential.
§ The ability to work independently as well as being a good team player.
§ Full driving licence and own transport.
The company is committed to personal development and endorses training to assist career progression. The successful Network Administrator will be able to earn a salary of £29,000 to £30,000 with a £5,000 training budget per year, and 25 days holiday, increasing by 1 day per year up to 30 days.
