An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a Web Designer to join the Technical Team in a market leading organisation based on the outskirts of Luton, Bedfordshire. The successful Web Designer will be offered fantastic career progression opportunities and a £5,000 training budget per annum.

The Web Designer’s role will involve responsibility for working with internal and external clients to establish the requirements, design, and carry out front-end development of websites and web applications. The successful candidate will be required to liaise with other members of the development team to ensure back-end web work is carried out according to specification.  Additionally, the Web Designer will provide design input for other IT interfaces developed by the company.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

·         Full lifecycle responsibility for developing and maintaining websites, web applications, and web-related services for the organisation and other companies in the Group, and for external clients as required.

·         Researching and evaluating design requirements to produce implementation specifications and code, in consultation with the Systems Architect.

·         Coding and maintaining the front-end of websites and applications, and ensuring back-end work is carried out by colleagues according to agreed specifications.

·          Produce standards-compliant XHTML/CSS 2.0

·         Assisting in the design and implementation of testing procedures in consultation with the Tester.

·         Application problem determination and resolution.

·         Producing documentation for both internal and external use, following the agreed lifecycle methodology.

·         Performance analysis and improvement both as part of original product design and during application maintenance.

·         Working with clients to ensure successful delivery of their application and to resolve any problems.

·         Working with the development team to produce specifications for scalable applications developed in .NET/C#.

·         Regularly consulting manuals, periodicals and technical reports to learn new ways to develop programs and maintain existing skills and knowledge.

·         Participate in appropriate professional and personal development programmes.

 

Skills and Experience

 

·         Very competent at resolving XHTML/HTML cross-browser implementation issues.

·         Excellent copy/content creation and quality control skills, particularly for websites.

·         Excellent team player but can also work on own initiative when required.

·         You will have an interest in emerging technologies and learning new skills from existing technologies.

·         Experience in using Photoshop/Paintshop Pro.
