Job description

An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a Web Developer to join the Technical Team in a market leading organisation based in Luton, Bedfordshire. The successful candidate will be offered fantastic career progression opportunities and a £5,000 training budget per annum.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing the front-end and back-end of web sites and web applications according to specified designs and practices, to modern standards.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

Duties will typically include:

 

§         Full lifecycle responsibility for the development and maintenance of websites, web applications, and web-related services.

 

§         Researching and evaluating design requirements to produce implementation specifications and code, in consultation with the Systems Architect.

 

§         Coding and maintaining websites and applications.

 

§         Working with the development team to produce scalable applications in .NET/C#.

 

§         Producing standards-compliant XHTML/CSS 2.0

 

§         Assisting in the design and implementation of testing procedures in consultation with the Tester.

 

§         Application problem determination and resolution.

 

§         Producing documentation for both internal and external use, following the agreed lifecycle methodology.

 

§         Performance analysis and improvement both as part of original product design and during application maintenance.

 

§         Working with clients to ensure successful delivery of their application and to resolve any problems.

 

§         Regularly consulting manuals, periodicals and technical reports to learn new ways to develop programs and maintain existing skills and knowledge.

 

§         Participating in appropriate professional and personal development programmes.

 

Skills and Experience

 

·         Very competent at resolving XHTML/HTML cross-browser implementation issues.

§         Excellent copy (content) creation and quality control skills.

 

§         Excellent team player but can also work on own initiative when required.

 

§         You will have an interest in emerging technologies and learning new skills from existing technologies.

 

§         Experience in using Photoshop/Paintshop Pro

·          Client Side Javascript 1.2

·          Cross-browser development

·          AJAX

·          CSS 2.0

·          IIS6 Deployment

·          XML

·          Scripting technologies

·          Technical documentation

·         Ability to work to agreed timeframes and standards

·          Experience of business web architecture and provisioning

·          Development lifecycle

·          Design pattern knowledge

·          Security

·          Accessibility standards

·          DotNetNuke framework

·         Experience with Content Management Systems
